Two failures that stack up at a public EV charger, and an MVP built to remove both
EV drivers hit two problems that compound each other. Listed chargers are often unavailable, broken or already occupied, which trains drivers to ignore real-time data and detour to a charger they already trust. Then at malls and parking garages there is no indoor routing to the actual bay, so the search continues on foot after parking. Range anxiety makes both worse.
The MVP has three parts. A Reliability Layer puts a Likely Usable badge on station listings, calculated from historical uptime and recent user reports, so drivers can weigh a station before committing to the route. Bay Finder handles indoor routing with elevator and stair references, colour-coded lane overlays and garage-level labels. Plan-B Auto-suggest watches availability live and warns the driver when the destination station turns risky, offering alternatives with updated ETA and remaining range.
