The problem they went after

Planning a day trip means bouncing between apps, blogs and review sites, and the fatigue shows up in the result. Even with Google Maps open, people lack confidence in their choices, over-plan or under-plan, and come home exhausted. No trusted navigation product currently offers personalised, adaptive planning inside itself.

What they actually did

Smart Trip Builder starts by asking about available time, trip purpose, preferred vibe, dietary needs and activity interests, then asks dynamic follow-up questions based on the answers. It generates an optimised route, explains its reasoning for each stop, and adapts in real time to traffic, weather and venue availability. Underneath sit three pieces: a Review Sentiment Engine reading millions of reviews for themes and mood, preference learning that sharpens suggestions over time, and dynamic optimisation balancing time, distance, experience quality and logical flow.

What you can take from it

Worth stealing

  • Structured intake, then dynamic follow-up questions before generating anything
  • Transparent reasoning shown for every stop on the route
  • Live re-planning against traffic, weather and venue availability
  • Revenue path via experience bookings and sponsored recommendations

PMs adding AI planning to a product users already trust for something else

The transferable bitMaking the AI show its reasoning for every stop turns a black-box itinerary into something a user can accept or edit. The business case is drawn properly too: deeper in-app engagement, users staying in navigation through the whole journey, and new revenue from experience bookings and sponsored recommendations.
